Crowned: A Queen's Retreat

Maintaining Peace, Strength and Balance along Life's Journey

What is "Crowned, A Queen's Retreat?"

Crowned aims to celebrate and elevate women of color in their queendom. In society, women of color face daily challenges in the intersection of both race and gender. Not only are we fighting equality with issues like the wage gap, but we are also fighting for equity. With the constant demands, consistent service to others, and workloads that are ever growing, the time is now for an event that centers, celebrates, uplifts and empowers black women.

Crowned will offer a full day of wellness tools, self-care activities, motivational speaking, and the finale – a crowning ceremony for each woman in attendance. The event promotes peace, strength and balance to ensure attendees receive tools to thrive and be effective in their daily lives. Attendees will leave inspired to flourish!

Peace.

Women are in high demand. From tending to children, prioritizing our careers, significant others, friends, and extended family, women are stretched thin. Crowned will provide tangible tools on methods to protect our peace via yoga practices, meditation, a focused-therapy session, intentional breathing, and stretching. Attendees will also receive on-site massages. Outcomes include tools to de-stress, de-escalate, and prioritize wellness.

Strength.

Motivational speakers will provide women with guidance on self-care, the importance of wearing one’s crown daily, and defining queendom. Speakers will provide encouragement, hope, and practical steps women can utilize to be successful.

Balance.

As women are charged with balancing multiple projects, relationships, and are in high-demand, this portion of the event ties every principle and component together. “Balance” will equip women with the tools required to maintain stability in their lives throughout the year.  Balance aims to remind women that we are valued, we are queens, and that we should wear our crowns (whether visible or not) daily. Each attendee publicly be crowned during the closing ceremony.

This full day event provides multiple opportunities for attendees to receive knowledge, information and tools to uplift, encourage, and inspire. This event is a true investment in women of color in Indianapolis.
